I didn’t expect this to be an erotic novella, so that was a surprise.
Kinsey has her dream job: researching at a remote station in the desert with five people she hired herself and a reasonably good budget from a corporation, which is more of a silent partner than a dictator.
But she has a secret. Kinsey is sexually attracted to viruses; she wants them in her body and finds sexual release at the idea of them entering her. This shouldn’t be a problem with her all the way out in the desert instead of in the midst of humanity and yet another viral outbreak.
Until someone on her team finds a strange specimen, so large it takes a couple of them to get it inside the station and lab.
The virus sees Kinsey, in its own way, and tries everything it can think of to procreate with her, including taking over her teammates’ bodies.
This novella is well written and engaging, but I genuinely was surprised at the erotic content. I start reading every novel without reading the blurb on the inside flap, I like to see how soon it takes me to figure out what the plot and genre are. In this instance, it might have helped to know what I was about to read first.
Still, the work is good enough that I may seek out other works by the author. Maybe not quite so NSFW though.
